Amazon Home Services launches in UK

Amazon has launched its “Home Services” offering in the UK – enabling customers buying items such as TVs, household appliances, garden furniture and exercise equipment to schedule installation or assembly support during checkout.

In a statement issued on Tuesday (12 June), Amazon said: “Customers can also browse, purchase and schedule a selection of professional services even if they have bought their products elsewhere.

“Amazon Home Services features a curated list of handpicked tradespeople and service providers who offer upfront pricing with helpful ratings and reviews from verified customers.

Amazon Home Services is now available across Greater London, Birmingham and Manchester and “new cities and services will be added over time”.

Meanwhile, Amazon’s ongoing tests with drone deliveries again made the headlines in the UK press this week after Doug Gurr gave an update on the programme at a British Retail Consortium (BRC) event this week. As previously reported by Post&Parcel, Amazon has been running tests in the UK as a result of an agreement with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Department for Transport (DfT).
