Hermes Germany reveals new acquisition and international aims of the Group

Hermes Germany has revealed it will take over Seko Logistics GmbH, a global supplier of international supply chain services that also includes freight and IT solutions, on 1 September 2018. The organisation has offices in Bremen and Frankfurt.

“The acquisition will not only create synergy effects for the entire Hermes Group,” said Stephan Schiller, Managing Director of Hermes Europe. The existing customers of both companies would also benefit from the expansion of the product portfolio, for example by having access to fulfillment solutions in the USA, Asia and Europe .

The acquisition also makes Hermes Germany a permanent partner of the global Seko network. Headquartered in the United States, the international freight forwarding and logistics company has more than 120 offices in more than 40 countries, with a focus on omnichannel logistics , two-man handling, technology , international air and sea freight, land transport, combined transport, and demand Chain Solutions, Warehousing and Logistics Services.

For the Hermes Group, this opens up further potential for international growth, according to the logistics company, especially with regard to central e-commerceMarkets USA, Asia and Europe. Seko in turn benefits from the extensive Hermes distribution network in Europe. With Border Guru and Seko Omni Parcel, both companies are bringing start-ups specializing in cross-border e-commerce solutions.

James Gagne, CEO of Seko Logistics, said: “The partnership combines the tradition, experience and innovative services of two leading logistics companies while strengthening our respective global networks and local presence.”

In addition to digitization and flexible, customer-oriented services, the Hermes Group is focusing on 2018.

The Hermes International business unit, which was founded in Hermes Germany at the beginning of the year, bundles and consolidates all of Hermes’s international activities.

By 2020, the Hermes Group, which is part of the Otto Group, plans to invest around EUR 500 million in all business units. One of the main focuses in the current financial year is the expansion of cross-border parcel business, which is to be promoted by business units such as Hermes International.
