time:matters takes same:day and next-day to America

time:matters enters into two partnerships: with United Airlines Cargo to take the same:day express courier service across the Atlantic, and with TNT Express for its US Night Express next-day service.

(5/5/2004)

Effective immediately, time:matters GmbH, a subsidiary of Lufthansa Cargo AG, will be working together with United Airlines Cargo in the European-American express logistics market.

The US service of same:day is being launched immediately, enabling intercontinental door-to-door delivery of highly urgent small shipments (for example packages, documents, and spare parts for equipment and machinery).

The expanded service means that time:matters is entering the US logistics market on a large scale for the first time and simultaneously expanding its same:day delivery network, which in the past covered about 40 destinations in twelve European countries, by about 100%.

For the launch of same:day’s new transatlantic service, direct and indirect delivery connections to 39 US destinations are already available. Direct flights go from Frankfurt and Munich to the country’s major business centres: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. Another 25 destinations are reached via connecting flights from Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.

“United Airlines Cargo and Lufthansa Cargo are joining forces in order to close a gap in the rapidly growing international express delivery market,” said Roger Gibson, vice president of United Airlines Cargo. “Together we are now in a position to offer an intercontinental same-day service to customers in need of express deliveries. This kind of service has never before been available in the international logistics market.”

Deutsche Lufthansa’s entire network of scheduled flights is available for time:matters shipments, as are numerous flights of other partner airlines.

Also effective this week, TNT Express is offering its product – US Night Express – through a partnership with Lufthansa’s time:matters.

Shipments are picked up late at night in Germany and delivered in the USA the next day. The partnership between TNT Express and time:matters gives customers the latest pickup times currently available for USA shipments from Germany. TNT Express now picks up shipments to be delivered in the USA on the next day until 7:00 pm throughout Germany.

Even for special late pickups until 10:00 pm, TNT guarantees delivery in the USA by late afternoon the next day. This is made possible by the partnership with the Lufthansa Cargo subsidiary time:matters, which flies to 14 US airports directly and as a consequence covers all of the important business centers in the USA. Connecting flights to another 40 US airports make it possible to deliver US Night Express shipments even to remote parts of the country.

Additionally, the company is already prepared to operate a ‘High Availability’ warehouse at Frankfurt Airport as soon as it launches the service, in order to transport goods to the USA overnight based on emergency logistics.
