UK Royal Mail wins Man Utd account
Manchester United, the world’s richest football club, has hired Royal Mail to help maintain and expand its network of members.
The football club has signed a three-year deal with the postal operator, which will see it handle data capture and database management for the club’s One United scheme. Royal Mail will also oversee fulfilment and a customer management centre looking after communications between Man Utd and members of the loyalty club.
The postal giant won the business following a competitive pitch.
A Royal Mail spokesman says: “We will be providing an all-round membership support service.”
The move follows Man Utd’s drive to extend its fanbase in the US football market. The club plans to roll out the same scheme it operates in the UK while adapting it for the local US market.
The Old Trafford outfit was named the world’s wealthiest club by financial analyst firm Deloitte earlier this year, with an annual income of GBP168m.
