Nipost Assures On 48hrs Mails Delivery
Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), which marked the World Postal Day Sunday, has called on renters of its boxes and private mail bags to ensure prompt clearance of their boxes and bags to avoid delay in access to time-sensitive mails.
Area Postal Manager for the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Yahaji Rufai made the appeal in Abuja in a press conference to mark the World Postal Day usually held on October 9, of every year.
Rufai said NIPOST was determined to improve on its services having achieved 72 hours delivery target just as he assured that the organisation has mapped out strategies to achieve its new delivery target of 48 hours.
“Today, a customer can apply for a box today and get allocation immediately on payment of all relevant fees. Similarly when a customer pays for key, it is produced for him/her within 20 to 30 minutes” the Area Manager stated.
In the bid to bring postal services closer to the people, the Area Manager said 15 Post Shops have been established in the FCT in addition to five Postal Agencies, four District Head Offices, and 10 Post Offices in the territory.
On the World Post Day, the Area Post Manager said despite enormous technological progress over the years, the Universal Postal Union (UPU)’s fundamental mission of ensuring the provision of universal and qualitative Postal services throughout the world was still valid.
“Through the distribution of information in various forms, the post has become an important player in the information society and an essential instrument in communication that facilitates and stimulates cultural, economic and social development,’ he stressed.
