New London base supports quality at Palletline
The announcement this week of the decision by Palletline Plc to lease an 80,000ft2 site in Greenford, Middlesex further underlines the company’s sustained commitment to a nationwide continuous quality improvement programme.
The Greenford site will house Palletline’s first wholly-owned commercial depot serving the London area, and provide a new location with excellent road links for Palletline’s Southern Hub, channelling Palletline traffic into and out of London and the South East.
The move is an integral part of Palletline’s current drive to enhance service quality and consistency across the network, overcoming issues facing collections and deliveries within London and the surrounding areas.
Establishment of a Palletline depot and hub at Greenford allows the company to use the existing Palletline network to consolidate freight for the London area – an efficient, environmental and cost effective solution.
Substantial benefits for Palletline customers and Palletline Member Companies in the South East include reduced congestion issues, improved timings facilitating later collections, reduced trunking miles and, most importantly, high levels of service quality and consistency, under the total control of Palletline Plc.
At Greenford, Palletline is establishing its first ever wholly owned commercial depot, operating under the management of Palletline London Ltd, a subsidiary of Palletline Plc. This convenient and accessible location close to all major capital motorway routes brings easy, quick and reliable access to London postcodes for all Palletline customers.
Commenting on behalf of Palletline Plc, Managing Director Glyn Jones explains the reasoning behind the new venture. “Our objective is to provide the highest levels of service quality nationwide. Recognition of the individual issues posed by collections and deliveries in London has prompted us to structure a tailored solution for the South East, designed to deliver our continuous quality improvement programme for customers and Palletline Member Companies alike.”
PALLETLINE EXPANDS NATIONWIDE NETWORK 06/12/2004
Aiming to provide the highest levels of service quality for all its markets, palletised distribution specialist Palletline Plc has announced the appointment of a new Member Company to cover the Stockport area, bringing additional resource and expertise to the established Palletline network.
Palletline is the only palletised distribution service in the UK owned in its entirety by the companies who operate the system. Selection of new Member Companies is an exacting process, identifying organisations achieving excellence in customer service and proven financial stability, together with operating structures complementing the existing Palletline network.
Newly appointed Member Company Global Logistics Ltd is a well established organisation, offering a full portfolio of distribution and warehousing solutions including full and part load, contract haulage, warehousing, pick and pack, reprocessing and container unloading. The company runs a modern fleet of vehicles and trailers and operates from purpose-built premises including 300,000ft2 of secure warehousing with computerised stock control systems, CCTV monitoring and on site security.
Establishing a close working relationship between the two companies has satisfied the commercial needs of both. Paul Welsh, Managing Director of Global Logistics, explains the rationale behind his company’s drive to join the Palletline System. “We have traditionally subcontracted an element of the work we handle. Through Palletline, we can bring this in-house, giving us total control over quality procedures and customer service. In addition, Palletline offers us significant opportunities for growth and further development of our core product offering.”
Glyn Jones, Managing Director of Palletline Plc, echoes the quality theme. “Global Logistics fields a dedicated team delivering the highest levels of customer service, with a quality focus matching that of Palletline. In addition, the company demonstrates the operational flexibility to meet customer needs, both locally and nationally.”
