Glovo meets the demand for even speedier delivery
Glovo, the Barcelona-based on-demand delivery start-up, today announced the launch of its new business unit ‘Q-Commerce’ as it leads the charge for the third generation of commerce – delivering “everything” within cities in thirty minutes or less. This is all made possible by Glovo’s acceleration and development of virtual dark stores – Glovo Market – its own warehouses that cater specifically for third parties.
Partnering with some of the world’s biggest retail brands, such as Unilever, Nestle and L’Oreal and supermarkets including Walmart, Carrefour and Kaufland, Glovo is removing the hassle for them by storing and selling their goods. This offers a turn-key solution to businesses of all sizes to build their own online stores with immediate delivery directly from Glovo´s darkstores, currently located in Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon and Milan. This is just the beginning and Glovo has ambitious plans for Q-Commerce, aiming to have launched more than 100 dark stores by the end of 2021.
Q-Commerce – or ‘quick commerce’ – connects users not only with restaurants and supermarkets, but everything from toys, music, books, flowers, beauty and pharmacy stores. Glovo Market has more than 50,000 active users, delivering around two orders every minute. Delivery is free, there’s no minimum purchase, and it’s open to users 24 hours a day.
Daniel Alonso, Global Director of Q-Commerce at Glovo, said: “With shops closing down and lockdowns globally, consumers now want and expect more items than ever to be delivered to their doorstep. With this has brought new demands – it is no longer a case of waiting 24-48 hours for a delivery. Rather, the expectation for this is now a matter of minutes. At Glovo we’re committed to thirty minutes or less with all products available on Q-Commerce. As we continue to expand our enhanced offering, we’re excited to launch Q-Commerce in other parts of Spain and the rest of Europe, Eastern Europe and Africa over the next 12 months.”
Daniel brings a wealth of experience to lead Q-Commerce, previously Director of Walmart eCommerce, his experience will solidify Glovo as the front-runner for Q-commerce, the future of delivery.
