Deutsche Post plans no Jan 1 price hikes for private customers – Kruse
Deutsche Post World Net AG is not planning a traditional Jan 1 price hike for private customers next year in reaction to mounting competition, Die Welt newspaper said in a report to be published tomorrow, citing management board member Peter Kruse.
‘We will not stand by helplessly,’ Kruse said. ‘But that doesn’t mean that we will change prices.’
And Kruse said competitor Hermes, owned by Otto Gruppe, is ‘still a good bit away’ from reaching its targeted 15 pct market share.
Kruse, who is responsible for the Express division in Europe, also said he does not see serious competition in Red Parcel Post, a new parcel service to be founded by former Deutsche Post management board member Dieter Seegers-Krueckeberg.
‘I think there are enough players in our market,’ said Kruse. ‘I believe that today’s companies that work with conventional techniques and are efficiently organized are more likely to succeed than a start-up.’
