TNT to introduce first ever express road service between UAE and Iran

TNT Express – the world’s leading business to business express delivery company – today announced it will introduce the first-ever express road service between the United Arab Emirates and Iran this month.

The new route – which forms part of TNT’s recently announced plans to expand its Middle Eastern Road Network (MERN) – is set to run every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, from Sharjah (UAE) to Bandar Abbas (southern Iran).

The initiative is part of the company’s strategy to increase revenues in the MERN region and with re-enforced ground infrastructure throughout Iran, a host of TNT services can now be offered. First to be introduced is TNT’s fully inclusive door-to-door service, using sophisticated bonded trailers for deliveries to Iran. These will feature track and trace technology, customs clearance, GPS tracking and cost effective pricing on heavy consignments.

“Iran has consistently featured as a top ten destination in the Middle East. With this new offering we anticipate the business to double in the next twelve months,” said Bryan Moulds, UAE Country Manager, TNT Express.

The express road service between the UAE and Iran is expected to take between six and eight days and will give customers unmatched access across the region. Furthermore, it will generate significant cost savings for both the customer and TNT.

“While air freight takes on average between three to four days to reach a destination, our Economy Express road service is a less expensive option. At around 40% more cost effective, with a transit time of an additional two to three days over the equivalent air route, it is a cost effective solution for both business and customer alike,” continued Moulds.

Currently TNT’s MERN covers ten destinations including Dubai, Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Bahrain, Kuwait, Dhahran, Riyadh, Jeddah and Muscat.
