Royal Mail reportedly set to offer timed delivery options

In a bid to compete with rivals such as DPD, Hermes and Amazon, Royal Mail is reportedly planning to introduce a new service which will allow customers to book specific time slots for their parcel and letter deliveries.

According to a report published by the Mail on Sunday yesterday (5 June), Royal Mail is planning to introduce a three-tier postage menu next year. With the cheapest option, Royal Mail will determine the delivery time. With the middle tier service, the package will be delivered on a specific date and left in a special place. For the top tier service, the package or letter will delivered at a specific time and date, which the customer can book.

The report said that Royal Mail is yet to decide how much to charge for the three delivery options, or when next year they will be made available.
