DHL to enter Argentina logistics segment

DHL, the Argentinian filial of the German group and one of four firms operating international mail systems in Argentina (along with Holland’s TNT and the US pair FedEx and UPS), is now to enter the logistics sector in Argentina. The national filial will post a turnover of US$40mil in 2006 – up by 20% on 2005 – and will focus on the door-to-door solutions niche: it hopes to attain a 20percent share of the segment in two years, the segment moving USD50mil annually overall. The firm will invest USD2mil in starting up in this area nationally and USD1.7mil in the international implications.

DHL ranks top of the courier exports charts with 50percent of the pie (in terms of kilos carried). It employs 527 people in Argentina.
