Royal Mail launches enhanced menopause support for employees

Royal Mail has announced that it has reviewed and enhanced its menopause support for its employees, with its ‘Let’s Talk Menopause’ campaign.

In a statement issued on Thursday (17 February), Royal Mail said that the campaign aims ‘to get the conversation going about menopause symptoms, raise awareness and make a difference to Royal Mail employees affected by menopause’.

To strengthen the company’s commitment to a step change in menopause support, Royal Mail has also signed the Wellbeing of Women Menopause Workplace pledge, a national pledge supported by Royal Patron HRH The Countess of Wessex. Royal Mail is also one of 48 founding partners of menopause organisation GenM, which offers colleagues access to resources and enables Royal Mail to be part of the wider conversation, encouraging improved menopause support within other organisations.

Royal Mail has also created a new ‘Let’s Talk Menopause’ internal group to enable anyone affected by menopause to network with each other. Royal Mail currently has around 16,500 women who are likely to be experiencing menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms.

Zareena Brown, Chief People Officer at Royal Mail, said: “At Royal Mail, we are committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of all of our colleagues at all stages of their life. I’m very proud to say that we already have very supportive policies and approaches in place for employees with menopause symptoms and we are now strengthening our support even further to ensure that no woman feels they cannot fulfil their work ambitions. This is really important for us as a business as we have around 16,500 women that are likely to be experiencing perimenopause and menopause symptoms. We are launching a new campaign to get more of our colleagues talking about menopause and have formed a working group with both women and men that have created a comprehensive package of options to ensure we are providing our colleagues with as much support as possible. Under the banner of ‘Let’s Talk Menopause’, we will be normalising the conversation about menopause, raising awareness and providing greater education and support.”
