TNT expects to complete logistics sale H2 2006

TNT NV expects to complete the sale of its Logistics business in the second half of 2006, CEO Peter Bakker said on May 3, 2006.

After the sale TNT will announce what it intends to do with the divestment proceeds. There are different opportunities — an additional share buyback, a distribution of a one-off dividend and/or investments in a further growth — the CEO added.

Bakker declined to comment a statement of UPS, the world largest package delivery company and a leading global provider of specialised transportation and logistics services, that it was ready for an extremely large acquisition. The U.S. company made this statement two weeks ago, which revived old rumours that UPS (www.ups.com) could make a bid for TNT (www.tnt.com).
