DHL to build spare parts logistics network in China

Hong Tao, the supervisor for supply chain and logistics of DHL’s Asia-Pacific Region, disclosed that the world-leading express magnate would earmark USD 200 million to build a spare parts logistics network in China.

The upcoming network will comprise express logistics centers, to be respectively situated in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, and 16 strategic spare parts centers. The express logistics centers will be responsible for distribution of spare parts and components in their respective regions, while the strategic spare parts centers will offer spare parts distribution services within 2-4 hours for customers.

Similarly, TNT, a powerful rival to DHL, has commissioned its first professional central transfer center for life science in China in Shanghai, which is capable to deliver medical products to any distributors or hospitals across China.

Both DHL and TNT have taken such actions, with a view to reaping fat profits by capitalizing on their complete logistics network and quality services to satisfy the strong demand in China’s fledging but potential logistics market.
