Postal Service Finds A Friend In The Internet

Internet injects new life and sorely needed revenue into US Postal Service, which is handling millions of packages shipped daily by on-line vendors; eBay is so important that Postal Service sponsored recent Las Vegas conference of 15,000 eBay fanatics, who heard thanks from Postmaster General John E Potter; revenue from first-class mail made up more than half of Postal Service’s total sales of USD 66.6 billion in 2005, decline from 2004, while revenue from packages increased 2.8 percent, to USD 8.6 billion; photos; shippers like FedEx, DHL and United Parcel Service also benefit from online shoppping and Netflix is so dependent on mail that it brought in former postmaster general William J Henderson as its chief operations officer.
