Post Office hopes more people will use self-service machines
Self checkout lines are becoming more and more popular at grocery stores, and the U.S. Postal Service is working to join the trend of encouraging people to do it themselves.
The Post Office hopes to develop greater awareness of “Automated Postal Centers”. They were set up in three Roanoke area post offices more than 18 months ago, but so far, their use has not met expectations.
The APC’s allow you to buy stamps and place many packages in the mail 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can find them at the Main Post Office near the Roanoke Civic Center, the Cave Spring branch, and the Hollins branch on Williamson Road.
If you would like to learn about their use, the Post Office is hosting an “Automated Postal Center” day at all three locations today from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
