Latvia Post focuses on user-friendly services for the general public

SJSC Latvijas Pasts launches the first parcel lockers equipped with letter-boxes. To improve people’s experience using postal services, the option to send letters has been added in a specially designed compartment of the parcel lockers.

The integrated letter-box function diversifies the possibilities of receiving services. It enables customers to send letters along with parcels via parcel lockers. Sending traditional letter-post items is now more convenient thanks to the implemented solution, which is accessible to both individuals and businesses around-the-clock.

“Our team keeps focusing on developing comprehensive and user-friendly services for the general public, recognising the fact that sending patterns and delivery methods are changing. Letters and parcels can now be sent at any time of day from one location, which is another step towards customer convenience,” Jānis Kūliņš, Member of the Board of Latvijas Pasts points out.

The first blue parcel boxes with a specialised letter-box compartment can be found in several cities: 45A Dobeles soseja, Jelgava; 69 Dzintaru Street, Pavilosta; and 40 Krasta Street and 414 Latgales Street, Riga. They add to the current coverage of Latvijas Pasts letter acceptance points throughout the country. When items are sent via the parcel locker network, the company also provides customer support at any time of the day.

The national postal operator will implement the letter-box function in all outdoor parcel lockers. This process is planned to be completed in the existing outdoor parcel network until the end of this summer. Thus, the company streamlines the letter-posting process in order to provide top-notch services and achieve a long-term vision: to be the first choice for every resident’s mail.

Letter postage costs vary depending on the type of mail, weight and destination. To send ordinary items in the weight category up to 20 grams inside Latvia, it is necessary to purchase a postage stamp with a face value of EUR 1.65. Stamps can be purchased at post offices, Latvijas Pasts e-shop, Narvesen kiosks, as well as Janis Roze and Latvijas Gramata bookstores throughout Latvia.

As previously reported, Latvijas Pasts is constantly improving and expanding its services in order to reinforce its position in the business segments it represents. One of the company’s priorities for 2024 is to double the number of parcel lockers to 400, resulting in the largest network of parcel lockers across Latvia. It also intends to enhance the availability of universal postal services, item delivery processes and customer service.

At the same time, the company is developing the e-commerce mail and logistics business segment, including universal postal services (delivery of parcels and small packets), express mail services and sending items via the parcel locker network. Latvijas Pasts is also promoting new ways for redirecting parcels and cooperating with international e-commerce service providers to position Riga as a logistics hub.

Regarding financial services, the company encourages cashless transactions with the advantages of the VISA payment debit card and the Latvijas Pasts Pay mobile app. It also improves other features, including digital self-service tools.
