Österreichische Post: we are building a bridge between Europe, Turkey and Iraq
Aras Kargo, a subsidiary of Österreichische Post AG and one of the leading parcel companies in Turkey, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Iraqi company Galina Express. Aras Kargo thus enables an end-to-end logistics solution for the delivery of parcels from Turkey to neighboring Iraq.
The cooperation provides for Aras Kargo to take over the sorting and transport of the shipments to the Iraqi border. There the handover will take place to Galina Express, which is responsible for the last mile and delivery in Iraq. This creates a seamless logistics process that meets the requirements of Turkish shipping customers who want to tap into a new, fast-growing market.
Peter Umundum, Deputy Managing Director, Member of the Management Board for Parcel & Logistics, Österreichische Post AG: “With this cooperation, we are building a bridge between Europe, Turkey and Iraq and at the same time taking the first step into a new market. With a population of nearly 50 million, increasing internet coverage, and growing interest in e-commerce, Iraq offers great potential for growth. With Galina Express, we have a strong local partner at our side who takes parcels from Turkish shippers at the border and delivers them on behalf of Aras Kargo.”
