Australia Post: We’re focused on making it easier for locals and businesses to access services

Australia Post will open a new, modern Post Office in Ballarat, deepening its long-term investment into the key regional hub.

Opening in February in the heart of Bridge Mall, the Ballarat Central Post Office will feature a flexible, scalable design with a smaller physical footprint and a highly efficient back-of-house setup to manage increased parcel volume.

Australia Post’s suite of services will seamlessly be integrated including parcel delivery, financial services like Bank@Post, identification services and a variety of retail items including business supplies, stationery and core products. To make parcel collection even simpler, free 24/7 Parcel Lockers will be installed – giving locals convenient and secure access to their online purchases. The Parcel Lockers also support returns, allowing customers to drop-off pre-paid packages by following the merchant instructions, providing greater flexibility for busy households.

Australia Post General Manager Retail Operations, Kate Foley, said the investment into Ballarat reflects Australia Post’s commitment to improving services for the community.

“We’re focused on making it easier for locals and businesses to access the services they need – when and how it suits them. This Post Office has been designed with efficiency and simplicity in mind, while supporting the growing demand for parcel services.

Ballarat Central Post Office will replace the Bakery Hill Business Centre and there will be no change to postal services during the relocation. All PO Boxes will be relocated with no change to PO Box numbers, keys or address. There may be minimal temporary service interruption to PO Boxes ahead of the new Post Office opening.

“We will keep customers updated and advise before any minimal disruptions take place. We’re looking forward to welcoming locals to our new Post Office in February,” Ms Foley concluded.

The announcement of the Ballarat Central Post Office also marks two years since Australia Post opened its state-of-the-art parcel delivery centre in Ballarat which processes up to 12,000 parcels per day.
