Bpost: We continue to strengthen the relevance of the post office

Bpost and DIGI today announced a partnership that will allow Belgians to subscribe to mobile and internet services through post offices. This initiative is part of Bpost’s ambition to transform its post offices into multifunctional service centres accessible to every citizen. For DIGI, the agreement adds 655 physical sales points to its distribution network.

With no fewer than 655 post offices across the country, Bpost is managing an extensive network close to every citizen. This comes at a time when it is becoming increasingly challenging for companies to maintain physical branch networks. DIGI, the operator that has been active in the Belgian telecommunications market since 2024, has chosen to make its services available through the Bpost network. In practical terms, customers will be able to subscribe to DIGI mobile and internet services at the counter of every post office.

The partnership between Bpost and DIGI has been concluded for a period of five years. DIGI services are already available today in the country’s 83 largest post offices. A phased rollout will follow, with the aim of reaching all 655 post offices during the summer.

Tina Hernalsteen, Director Retail & Banking at Bpost: “In many municipalities, post offices are the last place where people can still access face-to-face services. Following the financial products offered by BNP Paribas Fortis, Nickel and Ria Money Transfer, we are now taking the next step with DIGI by introducing essential utility services such as telecommunications. We continue to strengthen the relevance of the post office.

Selection process open to all operators

For this partnership, Bpost launched a commercial selection process open to all telecommunications providers. This followed a successful pilot phase involving several operators. DIGI’s proposal was selected based on predefined and objective criteria. Clear agreements were also made regarding quality standards, and all candidates underwent a due diligence assessment.

Jeroen Degadt, General Manager at DIGI: “Bpost’s post offices reach every Belgian. That is exactly what DIGI aims to achieve: making affordable telecommunications available to everyone, everywhere in the country. This partnership strengthens our distribution in a way that perfectly aligns with our mission.”
