Austrian Post “investing, expanding infrastructure, driving innovation “
Austrian Post has opened its 3,000th post office with the new post office in front of the EUROSPAR market in Schwanenstadt. With currently 327 self-operated post offices, 1,353 postal partners, 57 self-service branches and 1,263 free-standing post stations, Austrian Post operates the densest network in its history and its services are closer to Austrians than ever before.

FURTHER EXPANSION: MORE POST OFFICES, MORE FUNCTIONS
By the end of the year, Austrian Post’s network of locations will grow to over 3,100 post offices throughout Austria, and from 2027 onwards, around 10,000 additional pick-up lockers for parcels are to be added every year until further notice. However, the post offices are not only growing in number, but also in terms of functions. At the end of the year, Austrian Post is preparing to roll out a new generation of postal stations equipped with a payment terminal, a label printer and a letterbox. This makes it possible for customers to print out a label directly at a free-standing post office, frank and post the parcel – or even post a pre-stamped letter in an integrated letterbox. Work is also underway to integrate ID-Austria.
82 PERCENT OF AUSTRIANS PREFER POST STATIONS
A recent survey by Austrian Post confirms the popularity of its self-service solutions. 82 percent of Austrians say that the post office is their preferred way of picking up parcels, closely followed by post offices (77 percent) and postal partners (72 percent). 40 percent of Austrians redirect their parcels and online orders directly to a post office for collection. The popularity of post offices is also increasing visibly among people over 60.
NEW POST OFFICE IN SCHWANENSTADT WITH OVER 90 COMPARTMENTS
The new post office in Schwanenstadt is part of the cooperation launched in 2025, in which new post stations will be built in front of SPAR stores. Customers can use it to conveniently combine their grocery shopping with the pick-up or dispatch of parcels. The new post office at Salzburger Straße 27 has more than 90 compartments and is completely energy self-sufficient thanks to a photovoltaic module on the roof. It is now accessible around the clock for the collection or dispatch of pre-franked parcels – return labels or parcel stamps.
