Number of postal access points to financial services to be increased up to 1,200 in Azerbaijan

Within the scope of the Financial Services Development Project between the World Bank and the Government of Azerbaijan, aimed at improving payment systems for the utility bills collection, and access to financial services and basic business infrastructure in smaller urban and rural areas through the postal system, the country will increase the number of access points for financial services outside Baku to include 1,200 post offices.

The Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, Iltimas Mammadov, told APA-Economics that the target will be achieved by the end of 2008.

“We are planning to increase the number to 1,500 post offices, including points in Nakhchivan AR,” he said.
