La Poste organize First Eromed Postal Conference in Marseille
The first Euromed Postal Conference was held during the 9th and 10th July in Marseille.
La Poste Group was the main organizer of the conference in partnership with others 8 postal operators: Algeria, Egypt, Spain, Greece, Italy, Morocco, Portugal and Tunisia. Euromed Postal gathered postal-sector players from countries across the European Union and around the southern and eastern Mediterranean.
The main topics discussed during the 2 days conference were:
• improving postal-service operation and efficiency to support development and promote economic integration across the Euro-Med area,
• promoting the key role that postal services as a whole play in their countries,
• encouraging cooperation.
This Euro-Med convention stems from the Barcelona process and included the 27 countries of the European Union alongside the 10 countries skirting the southern and eastern Mediterranean. Libya attended as an observer and Mauritania was the “President’ special Guest”. The Med programme aimed to foster economic development across the European-Mediterranean area.
The Euro-Mediterranean area gathers the following countries:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, the United-Kingdom.

Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey.
