Postal workers to get red carpet treatment

Fatigue at work can be due to many things, but Correos, the Spanish postal operator, is to make fundamental changes to mail centres which it says will improve staff health and improve productivity.

After succesful trials last year, Correos is to introduce new floor surfaces designed to reduce fatigue and make tasks that necessitate standing for long periods, more comfortable. It had been recognised that hard floors were a problem for many workers and the new surfaces reduce vibration as well as insulating employees from the cold. Seating and tables are also to be replaced where possible, with more ergonomic designs. The introduction of better equipment is also likely to improve conditions for Correos employees.

Over the next five months, most key mail centres will benefit from improved flooring including those at Valencia, Oviedo, Tenerife, Vitoria, Bilbao, Barcelona, Seville, Valladolid, Malaga, Santiago, Granada, Saragossa, the Balearics, Merida, Alicante, and Madrid
