FedEx hub project gets federal money (U.S)

The FedEx Corp. cargo-hub project at Piedmont Triad International Airport will get more than USD 5 million in federal financing for construction work, the office of U.S. Rep. Howard Coble said.
Coble said that the Federal Transit Administration will provide the airport with nearly USD 4.5 million for the extension of Taxiway D that serves regular air traffic. The money will be used for Phase One of the construction project.
The Federal Aviation Administration will provide the airport with USD 1.1 million for costs directly associated with construction of the cargo hub. The money will be used to build the new runway and associated taxiways, and to buy land.
