Liberal Democratic Party eyes merged postal services (Japan)
Possible integration of post office management and delivery service companies.
The ruling Liberal Democratic Party started discussions on revising the postal privatization law.
Reform-minded LDP lawmakers will likely object to any revisions of the law to integrate those services.
Japan’s postal system was privatized in October 2007 and was split into Japan Post Holdings Co. and four group companies: Japan Post Service Co.; Japan Post Network Co.; Japan Post Bank Co.; and Japan Post Insurance Co.
However, LDP politicians and others have pointed to a deterioration of services at Japan Post Service and Japan Post Network.
