Canada Post rate increases

The new rate will take effect from January 12th 2009 and is the first increase in two years for basic Lettermail.

Canada Post said the current rate action is the first in two years for basic Lettermail.

Canada Post wishes to announce that as of January 12, the domestic Lettermail rate (up to 30 g) will increase by two cents, from 52 to 54 cents.

The cost of sending letters, cards and postcards up to 30g to the US will also increase by two cents, from 96 to 98 cents. Sending the same items to other international destinations will increase by five cents, from USD 1.60 to USD 1.65. Other rate increases that apply to non-regulated mail will also take effect on January 12.
