The Belgian Post is completing its 3 year-plan to open hundreds of postal counters in shops, supermarkets, train stations and city halls.
600 “Point Postes” (postal counters) have been opened so far, another 150 will be put in place by the end of 2009. “Point Postes” complement La Poste’s traditional network of 700 post offices.
A survey has shown that 80% of customers are aware of these new facilities; 20% by their last postal transaction taking place at a Point Poste. The main advantage over traditional post offices is convenience in terms of opening hours and improved access to the postal network. Studies have also shown there is still room for improvement specifically, procedures package pickup and registered mail by customers need to be streamlined and simplified.
