Kemp to head up DHL MENAT region
DHL Express has appointed Garry Kemp as the new area director to the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey (MENAT).
DHL Express has appointed Garry Kemp as the new area director to the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey (MENAT).
Located at DHL Express’ MENAT Area office in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, Kemp will oversee the strategic development of this key area of the Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) region.
Commenting on his appointment, Kemp said: ”MENAT is an interesting and diverse region, which I am very pleased to head up. DHL Express is the undisputed market leader in the region and, even though we are currently going through the challenges that come with the global economic crisis, I have no doubt that DHL Express will continue to lead in the express and logistics sector and deliver excellence to our customers in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.”
Kemp is a New Zealander with a long career with DHL starting in 1980. He has held several positions in general management, operations, sales and commercial including three years in Saudi Arabia as Eastern Provence ops manager. He was also the general manager for Eastern Europe as well as area director of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Russia and South East Europe before taking his current position.
He added:” With 15 countries in the region and connection to 220 countries globally, the MENAT region is a vital logistics hub between East and West. Despite the current economic downturn there is still scope for development and growth and I am very much looking forward to work for this vital transit point with its excellent multi-modal hubs.”
Kemp further emphasised that the DHL Express Area Office and Area Functional Heads remain based in Bahrain and intend to do so for the foreseeable future.
