Chairman of the board Fritz H. Schur announced the departure, saying Israelsen wished to leave in connection with the merger between Post Danmark and the Swedish Posten AB.

“I’ve been the CEO of Post Danmark for 21 years and have been the longest serving head of postal service in Europe for the last decade,’ said Isrealsen. “My desire to leave now is simply because I believe it’s the natural time to pass on the baton.”

The final merger agreement between the two companies was signed in February and the new company will be owned by the Danish and Swedish states, together with CVC Capital Partners.
