Unions need more time over TNT cuts

Unions have said they need more time to come up with alternatives to TNT’s plan to cut 11,000 jobs at its postal unit by the end of 2012, reports Dow Jones. The article continues:

The unions said they are currently conducting two studies, but they have been delayed because TNT wouldn’t fully participate and due to the summer vacation period.

TNT confirmed it isn’t participating in one of the studies, but said it disagreed that it wasn’t cooperating with the second study.

The unions now expect to present the outcome in October.

TNT is cutting jobs at its postal unit as it needs to realise cost savings to cope with the liberalisation of the Dutch postal market.
