Australia Post stand firm as casual workers drafted in

Casual employees have been drafted in by Australia Post to help with deliveries as postal workers strike today (22 December) and tomorrow. According to Australian Financial Review, who cited post spokesman Alex Twomey, administrative staff have also been reshuffled to help deal with the industrial action.

Furthermore, it was reported that the Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union said Australia Post management rejected talks that could have stopped the strike. Australia Post refused to hold talks unless the union called off the strike, the Review said.

Australia Post said two-thirds of its 35,000 workforce will not strike.
