ARCEP closes La Poste cost consultation

French regulator ARCEP has closed the public consultation on the cost accounting methods for La Poste. The consultation was carried out prior to setting regulations that take better account of the weight and format of items when setting costs.

Drawing on the information gathered during the consultation, ARCEP will make a decision that defines the new cost-setting parameters, based on statistical studies carried out by La Poste in 2008. They will be used to produce La Poste regulatory accounts for 2009.

The common cost allocation for postal distribution, which ARCEP amended in 2008, remains unchanged for 2009 but will be the subject of a future decision.
