Crisplant delivers new sorters for TNT Post Parcel Services Ltd
Crisplant – a leading global supplier of automated material-handling systems – has been awarded a contract by TNT Post Parcel Services ltd. to design and integrate the industry’s most energy-efficient sorters in four sorting centres in the Netherlands.
The contract for the supply, design and project integration of LS-4000 sorters in the sorting centres was awarded following the installation of an LS-4000E sorter at TNT Post Parcel Services ltd. sorting and distribution centre in Utrecht. General manager of TNT Post Parcel Services ltd. Gerrit Mastenbroek comments, “The success of our existing LS-4000E is the basis on which we have decided to extend the use of this sorter to our sorting centres. The fact that the LS-4000E sorter uses 75% less energy than comparable sorters means that we can reduce both our environmental impact and our operating costs.”
Crisplant’s Director, Logistic Systems, Henrik Mortensen, explains, “In addition to the need for extreme energy efficiency, ultra-low operating costs and high capacity, the specification for the TNT-sorting centres also includes efficient use of space. The modular design of the LS-4000E, and specially-designed chutes to accommodate the wide range sizes, allows it to be installed within a very small footprint enabling more floor-space to be made available for the unloading and loading of sorted items.”
The new sorters are designed to achieve high capacity and long-term operational reliability combined with an ultra-low environmental impact and cost of ownership. The design also allows for future expansion of system capacity.
