Chinese expansion for Kerry Logistics
Kerry Logistics opened two new logistics centres in Chongqing and Kunshan, expanding the company’s national network and range of services to its customers in these fast growing cities. The first phase of the Chongqing Kerry Logistics Centre has a total area of 20,500 square metres and is strategically located at a hub with connections to regional airports, ports, rail and the business district.
Chongqing is one of the largest municipalities in China with a population of more than 31.4m. It has jurisdiction over 19 districts, 17 counties, and four autonomous counties.
The Chongqing Logistics centre will offer a full range of storage and value-added services including VMI, pick-and-pack, reverse logistics, labelling, packing, JIT service and regional distribution throughout Southwest China including, Chongqing, Sichuan Province,Guizhou and Yunnan Provinces. Target industries include the electronics, hi-tech, fashion, automotive, and pharmaceutical.
The Kerry Kunshan Logistics Centre is an 18,800 square metre facility on the south-eastern tip of Kunshan City and 45kms from downtown Shanghai and similar distance to Suzhou. Kunshan City has attracted significant foreign investment to its industrial zones including manufacturers from different sectors including electronics, precision machinery, fine chemicals, digital products, software, semiconductors and communications equipment.
“The new facilities in Chongqing and Kunshan add to our existing China network of 130 offices and logistics centres and continue our strategy of expanding our presence in emerging and second tier cities across the country,” said Edwardo Erni, managing director, Mainland China.
The Kunshan Logistics centre will offer a full range of storage and value-added services including VMI, pick-and-pack, reverse logistics, labelling, packing and regional delivery throughout East China including Shanghai, Nanjing and Hefei Province.
Kerry Logistics is focusing on the electronics, hi-tech and pharmaceutical industries.
