Canada Post adds BlackBerry app to mobile line-up

Consumers and small businesses in Canada can now find their nearest post office, or track their packages, through their BlackBerry smartphones. Canada Post has launched a BlackBerry application to join its existing range of mobile apps for the iPhone, iPad and iPod.

The new application is available as a free download from the BlackBerry App World website.

As with the Apple-based applications launched a few months ago, it uses smartphone GPS features to track down nearby post offices.

Canada Post said it is working on putting out a similar version of the application for Android smartphones this spring.

In the next two months, it will also add a “Find a Postal Code” tool to the whole range of Canada Post mobile applications, the company said.

Louis O’Brien, Senior vice-president and Chief customer officer at Canada Post, said: “More and more, our customers are interacting with us on-the-go using their mobile devices. With this new BlackBerry application we are becoming as mobile as our customers.

“This is a great example of how we are embracing new technology to become a truly modern post,” O’Brien added.
