Pitney Bowes and Sitma to develop "next-gen" mail finishing platform

Pitney Bowes is collaborating with printed media distribution equipment manufacturer Sitma Machinery to develop a “next generation” mail finishing platform. The US mail technology giant said its partnership with Italian firm Sitma would mean developing mail operations that would mean a lower cost per piece for mailers.

The platform is to make use of Pitney Bowes high-speed inserter systems and software with Sitma Machinery’s wrap systems.

Grant Miller, vice president of global strategic product management and North American sales for the Document Messaging Technologies division at Pitney Bowes, said the alliance with Sitma was about meeting expectations for greater return on investment in mailing and printing systems.

He said: “Our collaboration with Sitma Machinery will provide our customers with a next generation mail finishing platform that can help increase efficiency, decrease costs, and serve as an important component to integrate mail and print operations.”

Sitma, which has its head office in Spilamberto, Italy, has installed more than 8,000 printed media, packaging and distribution systems worldwide in its 46-year history.

Aris Ballestrazzi, president and co-owner of Sitma Machinery, said teaming with Pitney Bowes would mean offering mailing systems providing a greater productivity for high-volume mailers.

He said: “As an important component of the platform, Sitma Machinery’s wrapping solution will help increase work cell efficiency and flexibility with jobs.”
