Taylored Lines aquires Bee Line

Bee Line Taylored for a perfect fit – An article from Motor Transport, April 26 2001

Taylored Lines has bought Bee Line Transport & Distribution and plans further acquisitions in order to become a major player in the “premier league” of logistics operators.
A holding company, Taygroup, has been formed to hold Bee Line, Taylored Lines and truck rental and contract hire Taylored Hire.
Commenting on Bee Line, Taygroup chairman Nick Taylor says: ‘We’ve been looking for a company for two years and this is like a glove. It fits the hand perfectly in that it’s a very similar type operation, its workforce blends in with ours, it’s very professional.
“Most of the companies that we looked at before had nothing left – no investment, no equipment. There’s been no value to them, no customer base.

“We were not interested in trying to salvage something that’s virtually dead. This Bee
Line is a very healthy company with genuine reasons for the sale.”
Taylor says Bee Line has two operations in the North and South and makes the group a “much bigger player” in warehousing, with 12,090 sq m currently in various locations and another 18,600sq m coming on line soon.

The aim now is to develop Bee Line and capture increased market share within its spedalist sector of distributing home and garden products,
On future acquisitions, Taylor says: “We’ve grown organically, and that continues. But we need to grow by acquisition as well, because you grow or die.
We are looking for other companies and will continue to look for other acquisitions.
The holding company will be the platform in which we intend to seek other profitable companies that fit, and run them as individual companies. We don’t want one big name.” He says Taygroup is currently in talks with two other companies.
