Royal Nedlloyd Parcel And Logistics Division To Be Acquired By Deutsche Post And Danzas.

It has been announced that Deustche Post and Danzas intend to acquire Royal Nedlloyd’s parcel and logistics business (European Transport and Distribution (ETD)) for DM 1.043 billion. From then on this sector will become integrated into Deutsche Post pan-European distribution network. Nedlloyd holds a strong market position within the Benelux parcel market with an annual turnover of DM 2.84 billion, and has over 11,500 employees.

The LTL and logistics business will be merged with the Danzas business activities with the aim to increase efficiency. With the integration of the Van Gend & Loos parcel service Deutsche Post will gain a substantial foot hold in the Benelux countries.

The shareholders of Nedlloyd have their annual general meeting on 12th May and are expected to give their agreement to the proposed merger of these companies. It is anticipated that the management of Nedlloyd are to be integrated into the management system of Danzas and the Deutsche Post subsidiary, International Parcel Post.
