TNT Express starts trading on NYSE Euronext Amsterdam

TNT Express CEO Marie-Christine Lombard opened the NYSE Euronext Amsterdam this morning to commemorate the company’s inaugural listing. The business started trading on the NYSE Euronext Amsterdam at 9am CET today (26 May), under the symbol “TNTE”.

The move comes after the demerger of TNT NV was given the green light by shareholders yesterday at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). The company is now included in the AEX Index.

Lombard (pictured) sounded the gong that signals the opening of NYSE Euronext’s Amsterdam market, joined by Bernard Bot, CFO, as well as company drivers and cabin crew of TNT’s airfleet.

Lombard said: “This is a great moment for all TNT Express employees and for me personally. TNT Express has extremely strong fundamentals and an exciting future ahead. We have a strong and experienced management team that is focused on realising value for shareholders and delivering on our targets.”

“Our new independence will allow us to build a stronger, more focused TNT Express. We are aiming to consolidate our leading positions – particularly in the European express market and on Asia-Europe lanes – while also capturing domestic growth opportunities in selected emerging markets. I would like to thank our customers, investors and employees, all of whom make this possible.”

TNT Express shares will start trading today on an “as if and when issued” basis. The settlement of the new shares will take place on 31 May 2011. This is also the first day of irrevocable trading of the shares. Trading in shares of PostNL NV, the Mail Business of TNT NV, will go on under the ticker symbol PNL.
