Collect+ presence boosts local shop trade

Parcel returns provider Collect+ has claimed it is boosting trade at local shops throughout the UK – with consumers buying products in-store when dropping off or collecting parcels.
The Collect+ service – offered through a partnership between Yodel and PayPoint – offers a returns and delivery solution from participating shops within the latter’s network.

Collect+  says retailers are able to welcome customers who may not previously have had a reason to visit the store.

Figures released today (July 1) reveal 39% of customers using the service are visiting the network of 3,800 local shops for the first time. Additionally, 38% of all Collect+ customers are also purchasing when in-store. Furthermore, 80% of Collect+ users have also said that the service has encouraged them to use the store again.

Mark Lewis, CEO of Collect+, said: “We work very closely with the network of 3,800 corner shops that deliver the Collect+ service, so it is extremely encouraging to see that these local businesses are seeing an increase in revenue and repeat business.

“We have plans to extend that network throughout the rest of the year, meaning additional stores will be able to reap the benefits of providing our innovative service.”

It has proved to be a successful 12 months for Collect+. Earlier this year, Post&Parcel reported that the company saw record volumes over the 2010 Christmas period.

As consumers and retailers alike battled with the disruption caused to deliveries by snow, the number of parcels delivered to Collect+ stores for customer collection  leapt by 26% in the final two weeks leading up to Christmas Day.
