TNT extends Swissport deal at Liège Airport

TNT has rewarded Swissport International with a contract renewal for cargo-handling at Liège Airport in Belgium. After successful negotiations, TNT agreed to extend its current deal by three-years.

The news came as Swissport International also agreed a contract extension with Icelandair for similar services at the airport.

Patrick Minsart, general manager at Swissport Belgium, said: “Extending our cooperation with TNT and Icelandair is confirmation and recognition of our progress in Belgium.

“We enjoy a strong position throughout the world, and it is great to see that our clients appreciate the quality and devotion of our people here in Belgium and that makes me proud.”

Swissport International provides ground services to the aviation sector, and has been active in cargo handling at Brussels Airport, Antwerp and the airport of Liège since 1990.

The company handles 3.2m tonnes of cargo a year, and has a workforce of around 35,000 personnel.

Swissport is active at 184 stations in 36 countries on five continents, and generated consolidated operating revenue of CHF 1.7bn in 2010.
