Poste Italiane offers free WiFi at branches

Poste Italiane has introduced free WiFi access to customers using its post offices. Up until now, the operator has provided internet access via a PC located in branches; however customers will now also be able to use their smartphones and tablets to surf the net.

Poste Italiane has made WiFi access available at 22 of its main branches, through its telecommunications arm Poste Mobile, with a view to rolling-out the service nationally.

Customers will have to fill out a short form and in return will receive an access code via SMS.

Poste Italiane CEO Massimo Sarmi said: “Poste Italiane considers internet access essential. For this reason we have created WiFi areas in our post offices, making internet access available to citizens free of charge.

“We have a mission to ensure that everyone has access to the web and digital communication systems in a convenient, fast and secure environment – thereby meeting needs of people and simplifying lives every day. ”

Poste Mobile’s WiFi access is already active in areas including: Rome, Milan, Genoa, Palermo, Bari, Bologna, Florence, Cagliari, Taranto, Livorno, Modena, Pavia, Trento and Acqui Terme.
