Herbert-Michael Zapf to continue to lead International Post Corporation into the future

IPC Chairman Dag Mejdell announces Zapf’s reappointment to July 2015 IPC Chairman Dag Mejdell today announced that the IPC Board has reappointed IPC’s incumbent President & CEO Herbert-Michael Zapf for a third tenure, to July 2015. The decision was made at a recent bi-annual meeting of the IPC Board, held in Montreal, Canada on Friday 18 November.

Herbert-Michael Zapf has led IPC as its President and Chief Executive Officer since May 2006. In that time he has expanded IPC’s vision and activities, developing comprehensive business-critical market intelligence and research capabilities, robust communications, and driving ever-enhanced postal service quality and interoperability.

Commenting on Zapf’s reappointment, Mejdell said: “In the five-and-a-half years that Herbert-Michael has been at the helm of IPC, the company has sharpened its focus on delivering business-critical solutions both for IPC members and the wider postal industry. I am delighted that Herbert-Michael will continue on this path in this critical transformational time for our sector”.

During Zapf’s tenure IPC has launched a number of benchmark initiatives, including the global postal industry sustainability programme, the first carbon-emissions programme for a services industry. Under Zapf’s leadership IPC has evolved to give its members and the global postal industry an authoritative, independent and collective voice.

Before joining IPC as President & CEO Zapf spent ten years in senior management positions at Germany’s postal operator, the former Deutsche Post World Net, where he was executive vice-president and divisional board member responsible for import and export mail, international marketing, international relations, and commercial relationships with other postal operators.

Previous employment includes roles in Deutsche Telecommunications Consulting, the International Labour Organisation and the European Parliament. Zapf holds degrees from the University of Paris IX Dauphine and the University of Kassel.
