Danzas strengthens its Scandinavian presence by merging Universal Air Express AB

Since the acquisition of AEI in 1999, Danzas, the leading global logistics provider, has held a 50% ownership in Swedish based Universal Air.
On January 2, 2002 a purchase agreement was signed with the owners of the remaining 50% of the Universal Air shares. The agreement is subject to Swedish Competition Authority clearance.

Basel, January 22, 2002. As a result of this agreement, Universal Air will merge with Danzas AEI (formerly ASG Air & Sea AB). Ragnar Wilton, presently heading Universal Air, will lead the new Swedish Danzas AEI Intercontinental Buisness Unit.
The merger marks another step in Danzas’ strategy to further strengthen its position on the Scandinavian logistics market.

The new Swedish intercontinental organization will become a very significant actor in terms of size, but the main focus will still be to create a progressive, strongly market and customer driven organization. Together with the world leading network of Danzas, customers will benefit from a stronger logistics knowledge and a larger range of products. The merged company will hold a leading role in developing and providing state-of-the-art products and services within air freight, ocean freight, express and advanced logistics.
