New Zealand Post sells supply chain software company ECN

New Zealand Post has sold its supply chain software business, ECN Group, to an Australian business solutions company. The sale saw B2BE officially taking over ownership yesterday.

The Post said it was selling the wholly-owned subsidiary to concentrate on its core business areas delivering the mail.

“New Zealand Post Group’s primary areas of focus are New Zealand-based postal, courier, financial and digital services,” the company said in a statement. “As a consequence it was determined that ECN was no longer a strategic fit for the Group.”

ECN Group, which the Post said was a going concern, specialises in developing software to support business-to-business messaging, supply chain management and integration between supply chain partners, including real-time supply chain visibility technology.

With its headquarters in Wellington and offices in Auckland, Sydney and Manilla, the company has more than 3,500 customers.

Its new owners are an international business-to-business software company based in Melbourne, Australia, and founded in 1998.

B2BE said combining with ECN Group would mean both companies’ clients gaining access to greater depth and a broader range of products and services.

“Both ECN and B2BE have a range of products and solutions geared toward supply chain efficiencies,” it said. “Both organisations also have a wide range of web-based solutions which will be released in the coming months.”
