Ford chooses logistic partners

ALL (America Latina Logistica-Delara) and TNT Logistics were chosen by the Brazilian subsidiary of Ford to perform the transfer of parts and components destinated for the company’ new car, to be produced in the Camacari-based plant (Bahia). The operation will involve 140 trucks – 70 from ALL-Delara and 70 from TNT, who hired Transportadora Itapemirim to perform the task. The milk run will be in charge of Transportadora Grande ABC. ALL-Delara predicts an income of R$1bil – R$600mil with railroad haulage and R$400mil with road haulage. The contract with Ford will represent R$12mil turnover. Meanwhile, Ford is to launch the first car of Amazon family (Fiesta), produced in its new unit (Bahia). The company expects to double its shares in the Brazilian market, current of 7 within two years. The new car will face competition with Polo, from Volks and Corsa (GM). Ford and its 33 suppliers have invested US$1.2bil in the Camacari-based plant, which has a capacity of 250,000 cars/year.
