La Poste Tunisienne: A Powerful Tool for Financial Inclusion

There are six million postal financial accounts in Tunisia. For a population of 11 million, this is one of the highest ratios in the world. No wonder that in a recent survey on financial literacy, La Poste is the best known and first cited financial institution, before commercial banks Banque Tunisienne de Solidarité (BTS) or Enda, one of the largest microfinance institutions in Tunisia. In a country where approximately half of the economically active population does not have access to the formal banking sector , Findex shows that 90% of Tunisians whoa have a formal account, are actually banked with La Porte.
