Japan Post to increase post offices with convenience stores to 100

Japan Post plans to triple the number of post offices with convenience stores operated by Lawson Inc. to 100 by 2016 from the current 33, company officials said.
Japan Post Co., a subsidiary of state-owned Japan Post Holdings Co., will also consider scrapping some of the 221 contract post offices which have been temporarily closed under the postal privatization scheme since 2007, the officials said.

Japan Post is planning such measures to increase user convenience and to cut costs to improve earnings as Japan Post Holdings is seeking to go public in the spring of 2015.
