Jersey Post install Simex letter sorter
Jersey Post Group is the postal service provider for the people and businesses of Jersey in the Channel Islands. Jersey Post has recently completed the installation of a Simex Letter sorter within the Jersey Post Mail Centre at Rue de Pres, the postal authority’s most significant investment in automation in recent years.
At a throughput rate of up to 47,000 mailings per hour the patented guidance channels ensure low mechanical reject count. While OCR-reading technology guarantees highest reading rates throughout the whole sorting process. For Jersey Post, the new high-speed sorter processes letters and large letters across all streams for mail destined for local delivery, the UK mainland and also wider international mail.
Thanks to its modular design, Simex Letter can be adapted to individual customer requirements. The system provides Jersey Post with a number of inline benefits such as stamp cancellation, application of marketing messages and the ability to sort to a postman’s walk sequence amongst others, with further enhancements in the pipeline aimed at improving operational efficiencies.
The Simex Letter comes with the flexible and intuitively operable software platform BÖWE Sort, which provides customized solutions, easy operation and a high level of operator friendliness.
Andy Jehan, Director of Postal Operations, Jersey Post, says of the high-performance Simex letter sorter and its BÖWE Sort software: “BÖWE SYSTEC’s extremely flexible software solution along with Siemens technology has combined the best of both worlds. Simex Letter is performing beyond our high expectations; it has improved our quality of service and provided the capability for new products and services. We look forward to having a long term working partnership with BÖWE SYSTEC and are extremely happy with the support we have received to date from their professional team.”
Marc Clayson, Postal Automation Project Manager of Jersey Post, says of the project: “Bowe Systec delivered on time, on budget and the transition from the old machine to the new machine was seamless for both the business and our customers”
